Japan Post plans to officially launch a drone delivery service next year
People's Daily Tokyo, December 7 According to the "Mainichi Shimbun", Japan Post and UAV manufacturing and sales company ACSL announced on the 6th that they have jointly developed a cargo delivery drone. Japan's newly revised aviation law relaxes the management of drones flying in densely populated areas, increasing the automatic flight level of drones to level 4.
In Japan, the use of drones is divided into four levels, and the highest is only open to "level 3", that is, "no man's land" with few people, such as mountains, rivers, farmland, etc., and automatically flies without visual conditions. Some areas are already using drones to make deliveries, but they need to avoid the airspace above homes, etc. After being relaxed to "level four", drones will be allowed to fly autonomously over residential areas, etc.
It is reported that the total length of the fuselage of the drone is about 1.7 meters, weighs about 20 kilograms, and can transport up to 5 kilograms of cargo at a time, and the flight distance can reach about 35 kilometers.
Japan Post plans to use drones to build a nationwide logistics network and further expand the scope of cargo distribution. (Reprinted from: People's Daily Online)
